Yale Cardiac Surgery

Patient Care

At Yale Cardiac Surgery, our internationally renowned, award-winning surgeons and team of specialists are as compassionate as they are skilled. We understand that undergoing heart surgery is not something that most patients look forward to. Each of our team members offers compassionate, personalized care to help patients feel more comfortable with the surgical process.

We are highly experienced at treating all cardiac conditions, regardless of type or severity. We offer the most advanced, minimally invasive cardiac surgical programs in the region, including the use of the da Vinci surgical robotic system, minimally invasive aortic and mitral valve repair/replacement, and the only two FDA-approved percutaneous aortic valve replacement devices in the United States. Finally, we have developed expertise in the surgical treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation.

  • Yale Cardiac Surgery sees the largest volume of aortic cases and performs the largest number of mitral valve surgeries than any other cardiac program in Connecticut.
  • Our group is proficient in the latest techniques to repair rather than replace dysfunctional valves.
  • We are particularly proud of building an extensive track record of outstanding clinical outcomes in cardiac transplantation and implantation of mechanical circulatory support devices.
  • Yale has become a prime site for introducing the newest, most advanced cardiac assist devices.
As faculty of the Yale School of Medicine Department of Surgery, our surgeons are leaders in leading-edge research in areas such as aortic surgery, cardiac transplantation, mechanical cardiac assist/artificial heart devices, and valve repair, as well as vascular biology and transplantation immunology, including the pathogenesis of coronary arteriosclerosis. They continually implement the latest evidence-based medicine and surgical techniques, offering patients innovative treatment strategies.

Patients can rest assured that they are receiving the most advanced treatment possible from among the most experienced surgeons in the world.
