Surgery

The Department of Surgery of the Yale University School of Medicine/Yale New Haven Medical Center is a premier department emphasizing and investing in its three core missions:

  • Patient Care
Yale Surgery provides comprehensive services in every surgical specialty and subspecialty. Members of the department perform a wide variety of surgical procedures, ranging from the straightforward and uncomplicated to the most complex, tertiary services, such as organ transplantation.
  • Education
The General Surgery Residency at Yale provides superior clinical and academic training to our residents to prepare them to be the surgical leaders and educators of the future.
  • Research
Yale Surgical Research performs innovative state–of–the–art basic, clinical and translational research—whether in the laboratory, on the computer, in the operating room, or on the ward.

Our goal is to offer first–rate patient care, to train the future leaders of surgery, and to push the frontiers of surgical science.
