The authors studied 24 patients with oral commissure burns. Their protocol involves tetanus prophylaxis, antibiotic cream application locally,  "vigorous massage" with Vitamin E and/or kenalog cream, followed by commissuroplasty in 6 months if indicated.  They reported no evidence of bleeding from the superior labial artery.
