Peels are useful for someone whose face is finely wrinkled and also individuals whose face has blotchy skin pigmentation caused by pregnancy, chloasma, birth control pills, chronic solar exposure, and various dermatitides. Patients with fair skin are better candidates than those with olive skin.
Complications: Skin depigmentation, milia, erythema, hypertrophic scarring, ectropion, blotchy hyperpigmentation.
Post-op care: For phenol peel, analgesics, head up position, voice rest and minimal chewing; Thymol iodide powder after removal of mask; cosmetics at the end of two weeks.
