Answer:
This is a study involving 30 patients with coronal incisions. The incision was made perpendicular to the hair follicles on one side of the scalp and parallel to the hair follicles on the other side of the scalp. Postoperative the results were analyzed by two nurses and two secretaries who were blinded as to which technique was used on which side. The author showed a statistically significant benefit in the appearance of the scar on the side of the incision perpendicular to the hair follicles. The proposed rationale was the remaining hair follicles grew through the resulting scar and camouflaged it better.
