Malignant tumors of the hand are rare. Skin cancers lead the list of these malignant tumors, and SCC is by far the most common skin tumor, accounting for about 90% of these lesions. The lesions are usually dry, keratinaceous or ulcerated; they are freely mobile, and do not invade into deeper structures. Treatment is by total excision of the lesions, and primary closure or small skin graft. There is an association between chronic sun exposure and the development of SCC, presumably explaining why SCC frequently occur on the dorsum of the hand.
