40.  Xanthelasma

Xanthelasma refers to xanthomas that occur in the eyelids. Xanthomas are lipid accumulations in tissues in association with large foam cells. Xanthelasma are usually plaque-like, yellow lesions, which are often found near the inner canthus. Treatment consists of surgical excision or CO2 laser. Whatever method is used, they can be frustrating because they are prone to recur.
