Ambulatory Phlebectomy

At Yale Vascular Surgery, our nationally and internationally renowned surgeons are highly skilled at performing even the most advanced surgical techniques for both common and complex vascular conditions, such as varicose veins.

Ambulatory phlebectomy requires tiny incisions along the path of the enlarged varicose veins under the surface of the skin in order to remove them. These tiny incisions are small enough that they do not require stitches. An ambulatory phlebectomy is performed as an outpatient procedure using local anesthesia. The patient is able to walk following the procedure. After treatment, a compression bandage and/or compression stockings are worn for a week or as prescribed by the surgeon.
